In 2018, Monumental Sports & Entertainment will bring the Mystics and the G League team to a new state-of-the-art Entertainment and Sports Arena being built by Washington, D.C. and Events DC at the St. Elizabeth’s campus in Ward 8. The Wizards will also practice there. Monumental Sports & Entertainment co-owns and operates Monumental Sports Network with the NBC Sports Group. Position Overview: The Manager for Amateur Hockey & Alumni relations will be responsible for developing and executing marketing strategies for reaching and engaging the various segments of the local amateur hockey community (youth, high school, college and adult) with a goal of increasing participation and growing fan affinity for the sport and the Capitals brand. This position will also lead the Alumni Association and all related fundraising and events. Responsibilities: In this role, you will be expected to develop and execute marketing strategies for reaching and engaging the various segments of the local amateur hockey community (youth, high school, college and adult) with a goal of increasing participation and growing fan affinity for the sport and the Capitals brand. As a manager, you will lead and execute all elements of the club’s current youth and high school activation's. Annual programs include Mite Jamboree, Youth Hockey Shootout, High School Combine & Fair, and Captain’s Brunch. You will be responsible for the Monumental Hockey Club including acting as the point of contact for six (6) participating high school leagues, team managers, and host vendor, SportsEngine, monitor and maintain content, and troubleshoot with team administers. Handle the execution of the NHL-based youth initiatives, with specific focus on execution and growth of the league’s Learn To Play program throughout participating club partner rinks. Develop and maintain the club’s rink partnerships and rink affiliate initiatives with a focus on growing presence and activation with these entities and their user groups. A focus will be placed on crafting strategic initiatives to increase brand presence and club’s program integration. As the manager, you will be expected to develop and lead key relationships within the local amateur hockey market, including rink managers, youth leagues, high school league commissioners/board of directors, team managers, members of the Chesapeake Bay Hockey league, USA Hockey Nationally and within PVAHA, and related NHL personnel. This role will also serve as the primary liaison to the Alumni Association. Duties will include acting team representative on Alumni Association board, development and execution of events with the purpose of raising funds on behalf of the Association, management of Association funds, developing relationships with Alumni to grow the network, and coordination of Alumni appearances and related content. In addition, the manager will assist with the development of the amateur hockey budget. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelors degree. Do you have a minimum of three (3) years of experience with a sports team or in sports marketing? You should be able to work nights, weekends and holidays as needed. Do you have prior experience with grassroots and youth marketing? Are you experienced with playing hockey/coaching ice hockey? Are you certified at a level 1 USA Hockey Coach or higher? Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to handle numerous projects simultaneously and meet deadlines. You should have a strong understanding of relationship marketing and creative problem-solving abilities. Computer Skills: Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, basic CMS knowledge.
